■Itoigawa city boasts many geologicaly important land features. We call these sites as ‘Geopark’ combining words Geology and Park.

Itoigawa Geopark is constantly working to provide better ‘field museum’and better sevice for visitors.

The sign below left shows symbol of Itoigawa Geopark, established in 1991.

It shows Itoigawa-Shizuoka techtonic line, hammer and the plates only by black color.The symbol mark was renewed in 2008 following the municipal merger of the city in 2005.
